Seasons Greeting from Branar

2014 has been Branar’s busiest year yet and we wanted thank you for being part of it. We premiered 2 new shows and had 6 different shows take to the road with 3 of them touring internationally.

Branar’s 2014 in Numbers We delivered 122 performances in total, which were seen by nearly 12,000 people. 2 new shows were premiered 6 different shows took to the road with 3 of them touring internationally We presented shows at 6 festivals nationally. Toured to 13 venues nationwide, 3 venues presented 3 different show & 5 venues presented 2 different shows We worked with 21 different artists.

The Way Back Home our co-production with Teater Refleksion of Denmark premiered as part of the Family Season of the Dublin Theatre Festival at the Ark. The show is based on the book by Irish author & illustrator Oliver Jeffers. The show performed atBaboró International Arts Festival for Children in Galway, who is also an associate producer of the show. The Way Back Home had short national tour in October before heading to a sold out run Southbank Centre in London where the man himself, Oliver Jeffers, got to see the show and meet the puppets.

We premiered our  show Bláth, co-produced with the Limerick City Culture & Roscommon Arts Centre, at the Lime Tree Theatre in May. Bláth is based on the images of “The Flower” a picture book  by John Light. We worked with artists Maeve Clancy and composer Colm Mac Con Iomaire to create a wonderfully poetic show. The show toured to venues and festivals around Ireland, finishing with a 16 show run at the Galway International Arts Festival.

Twas the Night Before Christmas/ Oíche roimh an Nollaig was remounted a sell out tour to  8 venues nationally, bringing Christmas joy to new audiences. The tour will end at the Linenhall Arts Centre this Saturday 20th December. Keep on eye out for a feature about Branar & the show on Winning Streak Saturday Dec 20th.
GO RAIBH MAITH AGAIBH & THANK YOU We would like to thank all of the fantastic audiences who came to see the shows. We would also like to thank all of our fantastic collaborators, co-production partners and all of the venue & festival programmers, we have thoroughly enjoyed working with everyone throughout the year. We are very grateful for the continued financial support of the Arts Council of Ireland, Foras Na Gaeilge , Galway City Council & Galway County Council, Ealaion na Gaeltachta and Culture Ireland.
2015 We will be back out on the road in 2015 with 3 different productions. We look forward to seeing you all somewhere along the way. Keep and eye for dates. On Tour: Spraoi –   At Lime Tree theatre Limerick and  will tour to France and the UK. Bláth – will be presented at The Belfast children’s festival in March and  we hope to tour in Ireland with Bláth in October 2015. The Way Back Home – will open in Denmark and tour for 3 weeks there, it will then tour in Ireland for 4 weeks. It will be presented in Japan and at festival mondial des théâtres de marionnettes in France We will begin to work on some new productions next year and we look forward to breathing life into these new ideas. In Development; The 1916 project – We will begin development of a performance based on the weekend of the Rising. The shape of things to come – A collaboration with Starcatchers and Ailie Cohen and a theatre piece for babies. We are currently Theatre artist’s in residence in M.I.C Limerick and will continue to be in 2015.
