Exploring the use of puppet animation as a means of expressing a non-lingual story for theatre
Branar Téatar do Pháistí presents a 1 day workshop exploring the techniques of hand-manipulated puppets. Puppetry and non-lingual puppet animation is a valuable resource in the arsenal of any arts practitioner or teacher. This is an opportunity for professionals to work with Marc Mac Lochlainn, a practitioner with significant experience in the creation and presentation of work for children through the medium of puppetry.
The format for the workshop is as follows:
– Basic technique
– Manipulation skills
– Making and presenting a non-lingual vignette.
10 wooden puppets specifically designed for the purpose of training will be provided but if you have a good puppet you work with, please feel free to bring it with you. Spaces are limited, with a maximum of 10 places available, early booking is advisable.
Workshop Leader: names & brief background information –
Marc Mac Lochlainn – Artistic Director of Branar Téatar do Pháistí. Branar have created work for children over the past 13 years. Branar have specialised in the use of hand held wooden puppets for a long time now and to great success. Branar have performed throughout Ireland and internationally, in Germany, Denmark, England, Scotland and Wales, including at festivals such as Baboró and Imaginate.
